Crimson Rosella
|
As the weather turns colder we get visited by the Crimson Rosellas. Being a city girl, I just assumed they were the same size as our lovely little Eastern Rosellas, but they are actually quite large, being about 10cm larger than the Easterns. They love to nibble on the eucalypt flowers which are in full bloom at the moment, and for variety they are happy to eat the chinese elm seeds. That is how this beautiful bird got photographed. Happy to be watched by me, but as soon as the camera comes out… well thats it, they are outta there. Shy (not so) little things that they are.
